Série hybrides: digital prints

July 8 to August 30, 2019

Born in Rimouski, artist photographer Sarah Gobeil migrated to the Eastern Townships in 1987. After studying arts in many forms, life led her to work at BRP for a decade. This experience feeds his interest in mechanisms, large tools and machinery. She learns how to transform her spatial perception. The skeletons of the vehicles evoke masks and animals without coat. Inspired by them, she transposes her observations into her artistic practice by juxtaposing machine plans with human and animal portraits. The physiognomy of the face is scrupulously studied and highlighted by the artist photographer.

The deep gaze of the subject remains the essence of the work. In this corpus, Sarah's portraits take us into an unreal universe giving access to her observations and fantasies. She is inspired by futuristic creatures to give birth to these intriguing and striking hybrid characters. Witnesses of our daily life, the proposed assemblies impose a moment of reflection, even introspection.
