What hangs by a thread

From Octobrer 19, 2021 to April 16, 2022

Artistic approach

Contemporary painter, Mariclair finds in lyrical abstraction the foundations of her artistic practice. Inspired by currents of automatism and abstract expressionism, her vibrant and poetic works project us into worlds where the sensitive meets the invisible.

Freed from constraints, she paints in tune with her feelings. From this emotional charge and experience result works that touch the many facets of the human being in perpetual mutation. A state of being in suspension, freed from interference, from which spring its "pictorial synchronicities". An initial gesture guides all the others expressing a great whole.

The sensitivity that emanates from it becomes a truth, a hopeful experience.

Exhibition | What hangs by a thread

The world seems to be a little different today than it used to be. How to live in the midst of these upheavals?

Our feelings and emotions exacerbated,

Our benchmarks evaporated,

Deeply weakened,

I turned off the news feeds

And found a space to breathe;

Focused on beauty in my daily life;

These moments of pure happiness are mine.

Exhibited series

Absorbed by her intense colors and imbued with a vital force, we can see in her paintings what she loves and what questions her. She treats colors like emotions, like a heat which emanates from the body, a gesture, a shock, a vibration which symbolizes a feeling or a particular atmosphere. All of this can evoke order or chaos, aggressiveness or gentleness, but also voluptuousness, femininity, impermanence, fluidity.

Her color spots occupy a volume, but we perceive them thanks to the contours which delimit them. And if her colors make up an atmosphere, the lines give shape to it, crisscrossed with threads or filaments to go beyond oneself. And it is in the treatment of light, source of life that gives depth to her paintings, that she expresses her joyful feelings. All the works in this exhibition represent the urgency of what we have. The evocative titles of Mariclair's works such as Élever sa vibration, Le calme revient, Équilibre fragile, Au-delà de soi, Vers de grands espoirs, reflect the unveiling of this shared urgency on the human condition.
