Marie-Claude Bouchard

NATURELLEMENT SAUVAGE

From October 18, 2023 to January 17, 2024

Capturing a present moment, these paintings on a white background leave room for the imagination. They are created without sketching, with the fingers directly on the canvas, letting the fluid acrylics merge, creating unique moments impregnated with the moment's energy. The work's composition is inspired by the unexpected and finalized with a brush. With respect and fascination for trees at the end of their life, the bare seasons are undoubtedly the artist’s favorite subjects.

Born in Thetford Mines, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, Marie-Claude Bouchard is a self-taught painter sensitive to the flora of Quebec. Signatory member of the Institute of Figurative Arts - IAF since 2015. Her work is, above all, emotional; it is with the fingers, directly on the canvas, that she lets go, her letting go, her present moment ... which gives a different soul to each of them.

When painting her trees, Marie Claude works in visualization... Using direct and spontaneous gestures, she draws on her memory and her bank of photographs. Inspired by the expressionist movement of the early twentieth century, the artist reinterprets nature according to its forms and colors. It exaggerates the natural lines of trees, reconstructs their appearance, and radically simplifies their details. The striking contrasts between the backgrounds and the colored surfaces make the scene expressive, which seeks to confront the viewer about the painted subject and the chromatic palette used.
